On May 5th 2017, the CFMPC signed its 4th treaty with the Highlands Metis Nation remotely. The two parties, however, reaffirmed that signature and treaty officially at the CFMPC’s first annual general assembly in Edmundston, New Brunswick, on July 2nd.
The CFMPC is very happy and proud to welcome the Highlands Metis Nation into its rapidly growing family. Together, we will work relentlessly to ensure that our members access the programs and services specifics to Aboriginal peoples. We will also collaborate closely towards negotiations with provincial and federal governments to secure the assurances that our registered members’ inherent rights are respected in their traditional hunting, fishing and gathering activities.
